If I gave thanks for all I have,
And started long ago,
I’d have to keep repeating thanks
Till yards were filled with snow.
And though I’m very thankful,
Let’s thank with what we do.
Let’s adopt some families
So they have Christmas too.
Then between you and me,
We’ll show we really care.
We’ll show that when we have enough
We know to go and share.
Since there are families out there
That need a friend or two.
And I had thought that hopefully
They’ll find a friend in you!
Don’t eat too much, or root for the wrong football team!
Alright, alright, I know… if you clicked on the football link and saw the Michigan Wolverines you may be wondering what they have to do with Thanksgiving.
I grew up three miles north of Detroit; the home of those wonderful Detroit Lions (the team that always plays on Thanksgiving day). I’ve played basketball with Barry Sanders (the Detroit Lions legend).
My only links to the University of Michigan are a lifetime of watching them play football, and a summer wrestling camp where the other guys and myself went out to run around in the Big House for a little while. Still, over the years, Michigan football has given me a lot more to smile about than the Detroit Lions. That’s why the football link goes to the Wolverines.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5: 18)
