Admitting How I Feel

If I ever opened up
Admitting how I feel,
I’d admit that only you
Can melt my shell of steel.

Could someone steal my thoughts
And feel the same way too?
If they did, they’d only want
To spend their life with you.

If I admit my feelings
And share my thoughts of deep,
I’d say that I love food
And drifting off to sleep.

Admitting (Remix)

If I bared my soul
And told you how I felt
I’d say I’m glad that you’re a card—
One that I was dealt

But even if I belt it out
You would never hear.
Now you’re only memories—
Ones that I hold dear.

Writing a couple of these poems made me think of a quote from the movie, “The Princess Bride.”

“You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”

And for people reading my poems: they may not mean what you think they mean.
